Moored just south of Cropredy Day4

Sunday, 3 May 2015

We continue to make our way slowly south in the cold wind and cloud but today this afternoon in fact the sun came out and it was down to 2 layers-glorious- then we had several heavy showers in the evening. Great that's the fun of narrow boating in the spring. We moored in a rural spot last night (Saturday) and decided we would have Sunday lunch in the Brasenose Arms in Cropedy-it was very good.

Our first lift bridge for which the South Oxford Canal is famous and luckily the majority have little or  no use and are left  chained open.

Some of the private moorings have used their space very imaginatively indeed

Our mooring Saturday afternoon was just below Claydon Bottom Lock looking towards Croperdy

Same mooring as above looking towards the lock

This lovely lamb in a field near Croperdy- I think its  a Jacobs

Our mooring tonight just before Br 156 which is behind me

I heard an interesting jet sound this afternoon and managed to get a couple of zoomed shots of a Gloster Meteor NF(night fighter)11. It is part of the Classic Aircraft Trust fleet based at Coventry airport. First jet aircraft to enter service in the RAF. The first one flew over 70 years ago
